Overview:
To achieve very high transfer speeds the DLT Tape Array II connects directly to the local NetWare and IntranetWare volumes bypassing the file systems and reads in data directly in a volume image mode with Computer Associates Software. It reads data from multiple disks concurrently and writes to multiple tapes concurrently thus running as fast as the server and tape drive hardware will allow. Operating as a multithreaded NLM the DLT Tape Array allows data to be transferred at rates exceeding up to 100 GB per hour.??Digital Linear Tape uses advanced linear recording technology a highly accurate tape guide system and an adaptive control mechanism to provide high-capacity high-duty cycle backups. The DLT Tape Array II Model 4 comes complete with four 35/70-GB DLT Drives providing up to 210 GB1 of fault tolerant (RAID 5) storage. Two DLT Arrays can be combined on one server providing up to 560 GB of high availability storage capacity.
