Description: Drive : 20/40GB Low Voltage Differential (LVD) Ultra Wide SCSI Internal DAT Tape Drive (Opal) - 4mm helical scan DDS Drive - 5.25-inch form factor half-height 68-pin high density SCSI connector Option Part# 158856-001
Overview: Today's rapidly expanding networks and information systems require a fast reliable storage solution. The new DDS-4 format based on the firmly established DDS media system is the answer. 40GB¹ in a compact DAT-size cartridge offers more than enough capacity to back up new generation of larger hard disk drives. Very fast transfer rate of 17GB/hour¹ not only assures a safe backup within an ever-shrinking backup window but also minimises the downtime while restoring data. Full read and write backward compatibility with DDS-1 2 and 3 ensures all valuable archived data can still be accessed. Fast drum rotational speed (8503 rpm) boosts the transfer rate to 4.8MB/s¹ (12X) in DDS-3/4 mode and 1.5MB/s¹ (4X) in DDS-1/2 mode. Ultra Wide SCSI interface supports easy integration into the latest hardware environment and boosts the burst transfer rate to 40MB/s (synchronous). Overall performance is further improved with an expanded buffer memory (8MB) which minimises start/stop as well as Hyper Metal™ head and On-Drum amplifier that reduce the number of retries while reading. Compact 3.5-inch form factor assures easy installation into a variety of systems. The compact DAT-size cartridge minimises shelf space required for archives. (158856-001)
